What will you do differently in 2015?

January is one of my favourite months as it feels like anything is possible and something exciting could be just around the corner. With 12 months ahead of you it is the perfect time to reassess and decide on what you want to achieve in the coming year. Resolutions are always a tough one though, because as the months roll in we automatically start to slip back into our old patterns and the resolutions go out the window.

The New Year shouldn’t bring you doom and gloom as you head back to work from the holidays, it should give you a new lease on life! But if you aren’t feeling full of life or upbeat, these three outlooks may help change your current mind set.

Positive mind = happy life

While I wouldn’t say I am a negative nelly and I do generally try to be a glass half full kind of girl it can be difficult sometimes to stay upbeat. Whether it be an awful day at work, missed trains or a red wine spill on your new white dress, these quite trivial things can result in a terrible day. It’s best to try shrug these incidents off and quickly move on, as this will instantly turn your day back around. Life is too short to be trudging through it with a negative outlook, and if you are constantly looking for the bad in situations soon that will be the only thing you will be able to find. So this year why not try and turn anything negative into a positive and just watch how your life changes and enhances.

You just have to look at most social media sites as they are full of negativity with it suddenly being ok to be really mean. We see it all the time, celebs or famous bloggers put up a picture and it instantly gets slated and inundated with horrible comments. In 2015 I really hope that this changes and we start to support each other much more and stop all the hating. If you like something say it, if you don’t like something just keep strolling. Your negative comment gets you nowhere and may really affect the person who receives it. IMG_1004IMG_1001IMG_1003

It’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey

Life is challenging and if we are constantly comparing ourselves to others it can make it all the more difficult. While I believe everybody should have role models and people to look up to, it is crucial not to compare yourself to those that seem to have it all. You know the ones that flood your Instagram feed, with snaps of their amazing bodies, fabulous careers and designer threads. It is important to remember you are at a very different stage of your journey than they are and how do you know if they are even truly happy?

For me I work so hard on this blog and try to post engaging content but up against the big bloggers that have 100’s of thousands of followers, my little blog does not even compare. But that is ok because I don’t want to compare or even compete with them; they may have worked twice as hard for twice as long so therefore deserve to be where they are. You can’t begrudge someone of their success you must let this be the thing that spurs you on, as if they can do it why can’t you?  Remember if you work hard, stay positive and try your very best, you may just make it, but up until then enjoy the journey because you only get one go around this crazy thing we call life!

Be you, everybody else is already taken

It is very easy to get consumed by what other people think of you and honestly that is none of your business. You should live your life the way you want and do what makes you happy, as long as you are not hurting anybody, you are free to be you. We are lucky that we live in an age where pretty much anything goes and individuality is celebrated. So if you want to post that selfie, wear that top or say you are One Direction’s biggest fan, then go ahead, because there is nothing worse than being afraid to be you. Why not go all out and enjoy every second, you never know who you could be inspiring.

Most of the time we are our own toughest critics and are really hard on ourselves, “I am not thin enough or funny enough”, and while you may never think you are “good enough” this is the skin you are in so you should embrace it and enjoy it. Look after yourself and treat yourself nicely because if you don’t who will? Read a thought provoking book or have a pamper session, just be nice to yourself. Whilst you may not have millions in the bank or be Beyoncé, you do have something special to offer. You may be an amazing role model for someone, have an unreal work ethic or offer incredible support to your friends in their time of need and to some people they would choose you over Beyoncé any day. So why not focus on your good points this year and give yourself a break.IMG_1007

So it is simple really, this year why not try to be positive, patient and nice!

What changes are you going to make in 2015?
