If you live in London and read Time Out magazine then I’m sure you will have probably already heard of Street Feast, a street food festival based in Dalston, Shoreditch and Lewisham. The one at Dalson Yard just reopened this weekend and will now run every Friday and Saturday until the end of September. We popped along on Saturday to check out the cuisine on offer and it certainly did not disappoint.
It is basically a trendy food market with lots of cool food and drink stalls selling all things scrumptious. From jerk chicken to pulled pork to lobster, there is everything you could hope and dream to see at a street food festival and with lots of yummy cocktails and international beer on offer, it certainly makes for a brilliant evening out.
We were diligent visitors and sampled jerk chicken, buttermilk battered chicken, cajun fries, frozen margaritas and singha beer. There was also the most amazing doughnut stand where you could choose your flavour, toppings and sauce but we couldn’t get a look in with them because the queue was never ending – my waistline was grateful for this but it does mean we will have to return one day soon to sample them, obviously.
It is open from 5pm until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and it is free entry before 7pm (£3 after 7pm). If you are going to head along I would advise you to go early to beat the masses of people and definitely try out the amazing buttermilk battered chicken strips #yum.
