Sometimes we trudge through life with no real direction or motivation and we just wait for the time when it will all be rosy, but we shouldn’t really wait around for better days we should take control of life and make some changes that will make it so much better right now. In this post I have listed 10 really simple ways to help to make life a little sweeter.
1. Set some goals and write them down
Decide what it is you want to achieve and write it all down. Read it from time to time as this will not only give you direction it will also help motivate you to achieve your goals.
2. Find something you are truly passionate about
Whether it is blogging or running, find something that makes you really happy and use it as your outlet when you are having a down day or a really stressful one. Pump that negative energy into something productive instead of moaning about your terrible life.
3. Be grateful and say thank you
Always be grateful and think about the great things you have, don’t always be wishing for better or comparing yourself to others. Count your blessings and don’t take anything for granted. Also, always say thank you, even to rude people because sometimes you have just got to kill them with kindness.
4. Give lots of compliments
It not only makes the person receiving them feel good, it is also a really nice thing to do and will make you feel better too. It is nice to be nice and if you really do like someone’s shoes why not tell them, it could be the only nice thing they’ve heard all day.
5. Live by the 80/20 rule
Majority of the time try to eat healthily and only eat the bad stuff in moderation. Don’t starve yourself of the yummy stuff because you will just be miserable. When you have been good all week that Friday treat will taste all the sweeter because you will know you have earned it.
6. Travel whenever you can
Obvious one! But sometimes it is so nice to take a break from your life and just be free of responsibility or having to worry about when the alarm is going to ring.
7. Always be open to learn something new
It is ignorant to think you know it all, there is always something new to discover, maybe a new word or even a new experience. Every day I strive to learn something new, no matter how big or small, because then no matter what every day I will be smarter than I was the day before. Today’s new word Zeitgeist!
8. Leave your phone at home (sometimes)
Or if this is one step too far just leave it in your handbag. Nowadays we miss so much because we are constantly glued to our phones, refreshing apps instead of listening to conversations. It also makes everything a little muddy as we are never 100% in one experience, we can be chatting to our friend over lunch while liking our sisters pic on Instagram and messaging our bf about tonight’s date as well as checking emails, then we leave and think what was it she said? There is no point being there if you’re not totally present.
9. Don’t worry about what people think and be ambitious
If it makes you happy and isn’t hurting anyone else, then just do it. We all are guilty of holding ourselves back over the fear of what others may say or think, be ambitious and don’t let anyone make you doubt yourself. Remember Those Who Mind Don’t Matter, and Those Who Matter Don’t Mind.
10. Turn every negative into a positive
This is easier said than done but if you always try to embrace the positive rather than the negative you will see massive benefits. Don’t dwell on the bad times, just remember that one day you will look back and think I am glad I went through that because now I am so much stronger for it.
