New Benefit Buys

I will be honest Benefit is not one of my favourite makeup brands I would much rather splash the cash at MAC but one thing I think Benefit do extremely well is their PR and marketing campaigns, as I often find myself really intrigued and lusting after some of their new products. Recently I purchased a few of the products that I have been hearing lots about and I also received a  lovely little gift set from one of my even lovelier friends for my birthday. Here I have rounded up my new Benefit buys as well as my initial thoughts on each.

1. High Beam

Highlighters are quickly becoming a little bit of an obsession, I mean seriously who doesn’t want dewy glowy skin that makes your face look like it’s got its very own spotlight on it but just in the right places – cheekbones, bridge of the nose, bow of the lips – they all deserve to have a little limelight, and I picked up this product in order to to do just that. It is really nice and easy to apply and the consistency is gorgeous, it goes on as a liquid and dries as a powder. It is soft and subtle but doesn’t have as much pick up as I would like it to have, it certainly doesn’t rival the Betty Lou Manizer by The Balm (next up on my must have makeup wish list).

2. Boi-ing Concealer in shade no.2

I was deliberating between the Boi-ing and Erase Paste concealers for a while, but the lady at the Benefit counter informed me that the Boi-ing concealer is less likely to crease and she also said that her pot has lasted her ages so I dutifully picked Boi-ing up in shade no. 2. It is nice and creamy and is easy to blend, it is also build-able for extra coverage which is ideal from a concealer so that you can add more where needed to achieve that flawless base.

3. Happy Beauty Day kit

My friend got me this little beauty kit appropriately named “Happy Beauty Day” for my birthday – it includes mini versions of Porefessional, Benetint and Bad Gal mascara. I am really enjoying using the Porefessional as it smooths out the skin and makes for a great base before foundation, if you are wanting a product like this Maybelline Baby Skin is a fantastic dupe for a fraction of the price.

I am finding the Benetint quite tricky to use as I always struggle with liquid blushes, why are they so really hard to blend? The colour is a lovely rosy shade perfect for the cheeks, maybe I just need to practice using this one a little more.

As for the Bad Gal mascara the brush is really big which is great for volume but not great for applying mascara to the bottom lashes, I much prefer the Benefit Roller Lash mascara.

4. That Gal primer

I just have the little version of this one but I really like it, it adds a little lustre to the skin and is really easy to apply. But if you put too much foundation over the top it virtually disappears, I prefer a primer that fills in the pores instead of adding shine as that is what I want from my highlighter, so I would chose the porefessional primer over this one.
