I often frequent the makeup aisles of Superdrug and Boots and it is usually where I tell myself that because the products are so reasonably priced it makes perfect sense to buy lots of them, an internal justification that makes neither my wallet or other half too happy. Also, as I can never seem to throw any makeup away, I am quickly running out of space, but you can just never have too makeup. I think it’s time I got my own beauty room – another thing that certainly won’t be making my bank balance or hubby-to-be too happy.
These are the 5 “drugstore” products that I’m currently loving and will always repurchase.
This palette is a newcomer to my makeup arsenal and it has quickly become the one I reach for every time I want to do a dramatic eye. It has a fantastic mix of matte, sparkly, light and dark shades which all have great colour pay off. I used it to create this intense cat eye makeup for Saturday night’s Halloween party.
L’Oreal True Match Foundation
I really like this foundation and have it in two shades 3N for daytime and 3W for nights out. It goes on flawlessly and offers a really nice base, whilst never ever looking cakey, because the only cake I want is on my plate certainly not my face (all the lol’s). It comes in lots of different shades so it is really easy to find the perfect one and you don’t need too much of it because it blends really nicely and a little goes a long way.
I use this everyday as it is so easy to apply and is great for getting a nice cat flick. It has two felt tips on each end, with one applicator a little smaller than the other. So dependent on how thick you want your liner to be, you just pick the most suitable end. It’s really black and has great staying power, perfect for achieving eyeliner that is always on fleek.
I feel like I have raved about this product quite a lot (probably because I have) but it is £3 and gives your checks and nose the most gorgeous glow that I think it will be a product I will use forever. Now I just need to stock pile it because I would be oh so sad if heaven forbid it was ever to be discontinued. My favourite use for this product is to apply it to the inner corner of my eyes to make them pop and appear brighter and bigger.
This has quickly become one of my favourite under eye concealers, I am also loving the Soap & Glory Kick Ass pot. The consistency of this one is really nice and the coverage is unlike most other concealers, it is strong enough to give that airbrushed look but doesn’t feel heavy on the face. The only thing I don’t like about it is that I always tend to squeeze way too much product out of the tube and if you try to be economically and apply all the product that comes out because waste not want not and all that, it ends up looking quite dirty which is never a good look.
I am always on the hunt for those makeup products that are so good they make me think where have you been all my life and if I have a beauty room to fill I will need to get shopping, so if you know of any amazing drugstore products please do share in the comments below!
