10 Beauty Tips You’ve Never Heard Before

I love a good beauty tip, especially one that I have never heard of before and particularly when they actually work. While I haven’t tried all of these just yet they sound really intriguing and once I am finished writing this I’m off to buy eggs, olive oil, baking soda and sugar – no I won’t be baking a cake, I will be getting busy beautifying myself and putting these to the test.

1. Use Ice Cubes on Your Face To Keep Fat, Acne and Wrinkles At Bay

This one I have never heard of before but apparently by massaging an ice cube all over your face until it melts, just before bedtime, it can help keep fat cells, acne and wrinkles under control. This is something I plan on including in my nightly routine effective immediately!

2. De-Puff Your Eyes With Raw Potatoes

Raw potato slices can soothe your eyes as they help decrease water retention and contain the enzyme catalase which can help lighten dark under eye circles. First, wash and peel a potato, cut two slices and place one on each eye for about 10 minutes, then rinse your eye area gently with lukewarm water. Just don’t get caught rooting in the spud bag by your Mum, as she might get a bit excited that you have decided to make dinner. If you do get caught though quickly inform her that no you have not got time for cooking as you are about to make yourself look 5 years younger and she is welcome to join or make the dinner – the choice is hers.

3. Don’t Pump Your Mascara

Pumping your mascara allows air into the tube which will cause your mascara to dry out and when it costs nearly £20 a tube it can be quite painful when you reach for your mascara only to discover it is dried up – tragic! If you have already been through this travesty, don’t panic just put a few eye drops into the tube and swirl it around, it should help bring it back to life.

4. Make Your Nail Polish Last Longer With Nail Polish Remover

Sounds like a total contradiction but by wiping your bare nails with nail polish remover before you add the polish it will give you a longer-lasting manicure, this is because it removes all the oils on the surface of the nail helping the polish stick better.

5. Use This Super Quick Treatment For Lovely Soft Hands

Who wants hard hands, no one that’s who! They should be super soft at all times and this lovely little treatment will ensure they always are – simply mix a tablespoon of olive oil with a teaspoon of sugar and rub it over your hands for a minute or so to exfoliate your skin. Rinse off to reveal super-soft hands.

6. Make You Hair Smell Lush

In between washing your hair you can make your hair smell lovely by spritzing your hair brush with perfume and then brushing it through your tresses – maybe don’t use your Chanel No.5 for this tip – Victoria’s Secret do some gorgeous body sprays that would work a treat.

7. Get Rid Of Streaky Tan, Stat!

So you have a big night out and you need to look as though you have just walked off a beach – obviously you hit up the tan the night before, you apply it with a fine precision that would make an artist proud, toddle off to bed only to wake in the morning to resemble a zebra more than a tanned goddess – we’ve all been there! Instead of freaking out asking all the hows and whys reach for the baking soda.  Put it on a loofah and gently scrub away the stripes, it will leave an even base for you to layer up the tan once again. You can be a bronze goddess afterall.

8. Want Stronger Nails?

For nails that are unbreakable you will first need to focus on your cuticles because the more hydrated your cuticles the stronger your nails will be. Use a hand moisturiser or even excess eye cream all over you cuticles to keep them super hydrated.

9. Need To Remove Nail Polish But All Out Of Nail Polish Remover?

Your polish is looking more fatal than fresh when you realise you don’t have any polish remover to rid you of it, well If you apply a clear nail polish over your nails, and then wipe off immediately with a cotton pad, it will remove all the polish – magic.

10. Egg whites will give you a facelift

Take one egg, separate it, and whisk the egg whites until they are frothy, apply it all over your face and leave it on for 20 minutes then wash it off with lukewarm water. The egg white tightens the skin and wrinkles to give you a temporary facelift – who needs a plastic surgeon when you have eggs?
