How to Conceal & Highlight Your Under Eyes

If like me, you too are still recovering and detoxing from a hectic, overindulgent Christmas and New Year that consisted of lots of late nights and alcohol instead of water, you may be needing an extra little help from makeup, especially concealer. It’s that time of year when you need to bring out the big guns to cover up those tried eyes and git rid of any bags that may have magically appeared over the past few weeks – because girl the only bags we want to see are from Chanel!

Prep: In order to get the best results you need to prep the skin, do this by applying an eye cream and once that dries apply your primer. Remember always be gently with your under eye area because the skin is very light here, so dab every product very lightly.

Step 1: To colour correct and get rid of any bluish tones you may have under your eyes apply an orange concealer, I used the one from NYX and don’t I look fabulous ;)! As orange is the opposite of blue on the colour wheel they will work to cancel each other out.

Step 2: Apply your foundation as normal and using a beauty blender apply a thin layer over the orange concealer. Be careful not to apply too much product under your eyes as this will only lead to creasing.

Step 3: Apply a concealer two shades lighter than your foundation in an upside down triangle shape right under your eyes. Extend it down and out to brighten up and highlight the entire area.

Step 4: Bounce the concealer into the skin using a beauty blender and to reach the smaller areas around the eyes use a detailing brush to blend all the concealer in. Don’t use swiping motions when blending the product as this will only move your colour corrector around and make the two products blend together which will leave you with a lovely orange mess – never a good look.

Step 5: To set all your hard work apply a translucent powder, I used the W7 Banana dreams which works a treat and doesn’t crease.
