How I Clean My Makeup Brushes

The task that we all dread but makes us ever so happy once complete, cleaning our makeup brushes. I recently came across a little tool called the Brushegg that has completly transformed the way I clean my brushes. It makes the job so much easier, a lot less painful and much quicker too. I loved it so much I have decided to stock it in my blog shop

The Brushegg is a little tool you slot on to your index and middle fingers and it has groves on it which are fantastic for getting all the product out of the brushes.

Everyone has their own tried and tested ways for cleaning their dirty brushes and specific products they like to use, as for me, I always opt for the Dettol Cleanse hand wash as it promises to kill 99.9% of bacteria which is so important when cleaning your brushes as it is the bacteria which can cause your skin to break out. I also like to give my brushes a final clean to ensure all the product is removed using a hand wash that smells delicious so that the brushes will then too.

I apply the product to my Brushegg and then swirl the dirty brushes all around in it, add a little water and continue until all the product has been removed and the brushes are squeaky clean and back to their former glory.

I then just line them up on a towel and leave them to air dry, all ready for their next outing.

  3. I really want one of these! They sound fab, the only thing that puts me off is the size of it! I use Dr Bronners Castile Soap to clean my brushes and it’s so so good and a super cheap, multipurpose alternative to brush cleanser. To spot clean on the go I use the B. Makeup Brush Cleanser. It gets make up off brushes super fast, but isn’t a deep, deep clean! Still good though.
